Current Research
Major definite purpose of my research career is to reduce the chaos during the emergency situations. While my education up to masters degree  followed by the professional research experience laid foundation for understanding of various environmental challenges, the current PhD program at DA-IICT, involves the coursework that provides  the familiarity with basic  tools and techniques in Information and communication technology (ICT) to "deal"  with these challenges. Hence, my current research is amalgamation of technologies of multiple disciplines. Following is the brief account of my research interest in  individual building blocks
  Disaster Management
With increased vulnerability, costs and multitudes of effects of disasters, Disaster Management has become mandatory for any organization body. While this process is becoming more refined, the recent experiences suggest lots of issues remains to be unsolved. The co-ordination between the respondents and victims is causing challenges due to adverse impact of disasters. Management of Resources, Co-ordination, communication, collaborative decision making, emergency alters, command and control remains to be difficult as disasters crosses the administrative boundaries.

  Geographical information Systems
GIS is one of the most important technology being extensively deployed by almost any type of organizations for managing their activities spanned in spatial dimension. Analysis and Visualization provides grater decision making capability to GIS by detecting  spatial and temporal  changes in the database. The data being utilized  can be created, maintained and distributed by diverse organization for various purposes. This introduces the challenge of interoperability of amongst the spatial database.

  Data Warehousing
With advancement in sensor technology, capability to record various environmental parameters is now being enhanced. More and more information is being electronically register with appropriate update frequency. This has created challenge to management of data being recorded by various sources for various purposes. Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) covers set of techniques developed for management of large datasets.

  Emergency Communication
Communicating relevant information in timely fashion is essential underlying requirement for any disaster management practice. Hence the emergency communication technology is one of the major focus area for the researchers. This involves the emergency alert systems, Risk perception and visualization and the main and  alternative communication technology to carry the message to the targeted audiences.

  Distributed Computing
With advent of mobile communication technology and miniaturization of computing systems the user base has increased to a large number. This situation has created a demand of all the possible applications on a  mobile hand-held instruments  which were previously possible only on a desktop. The client server architecture is soon replaced by the n-tier architecture and now moving towards service computing paradigm. In disaster management context,  after the availability navigation and mobile mapping on hand-held devices, the research focus in now concentrated  towards improving the geo-processing and analytical capability on the resource constrained computing environment.

   Combination of above all
All the research areas listed above have remained isolated for a long time, but now the boundaries amongst them is disappearing very quickly.  This sections provide information about research being carried out with it's root in more then a single discipline listed above.
